A field exercise was conducted at our hospital within the scope of "Disaster and Emergency Plans (DAP)".

On September 25, 2025, the field application of the tabletop scenario was carried out. Within the scope of the Hospital Disaster and Emergency Plan Implementation Regulation, the Antalya Provincial Health Directorate Emergency Health Services Unit Disaster Health Services Unit participated as observers in the exercise, and the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Fire Department Training and Prevention Branch Directorate teams contributed with one fire truck. The exercise scenario, based on the 2025 Local Level Disaster Health Group Operation Plan tabletop exercise, reflected the potential risks and measures to be taken at Akdeniz University Hospital in the field. According to the scenario, following a potentially devastating earthquake, a fire in the hospital kitchen area (A2 block, -1st floor) was extinguished, and the patients in the A2 Block 1st Floor Intensive Care Unit were horizontally evacuated to the G Block 1st Floor Coronary Intensive Care and Cardiovascular Surgery Intensive Care Units. With the announcement of the third-level HAP activation by the HAP head (Chief Physician), the hospital transitioned from normal management mode to emergency management mode. Members of the Hospital Disaster Preparedness Committee, the Incident Management Team (IMT), and relevant unit managers involved in the HAP Organization gathered at the Incident Management Center (IMC). Events occurring in the field, displayed on screens via four cameras, were monitored simultaneously and live. The work of the HAP support teams (Firefighting, Search and Rescue, Evacuation, Protection, and First Aid) and Hospital Disaster Teams in the field was coordinated by the HAP President and other HAP managers. Everyone wore emergency vests appropriate to their area of responsibility, and communication was maintained via radio. HAP forms and documents were used for recording purposes. Using emergency color codes, the HAP was activated by the HAP President with a PURPLE CODE, a RED CODE was given via radio upon a fire alarm, and the firefighting operation was carried out. If the danger persisted, a YELLOW CODE was given, initiating the evacuation process. At the end of the exercise, the HAP activation was terminated with a GREEN CODE, and the exercise was evaluated by the observer team. A successful drill was conducted to ensure preparedness for disasters and emergencies, and to minimize loss of life and property by planning actions in advance, both during and after the event.
