Akdeniz University Department of Dermatology and Venereology has a long tradition of supporting scientific research. Our department is currently one of the leaders in basic and clinical research in dermatology in Turkey. The training areas, outpatient and inpatient treatment services of the Department of Dermatology and Research Laboratories of the Faculty of Medicine are combined in the modern campus of Akdeniz University Hospital.
History
In accordance with the decision made during the 11th Meeting and 16th Resolution of the Faculty Board on January 26, 1976, it was decided to establish 30 chairs at Antalya Faculty of Medicine. One of these was the "Chair of Dermatology and Syphilology." By the decision of the Faculty Board on June 26, 1979, and the University's decision numbered 215 on July 3, 1979, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Erdal Başaran was appointed as the first "Chairman" of the "Chair of Dermatology and Venereal Diseases.
Facility & Services
Department of Skin and Venereal Diseases (Dermatology) provides pre- and post-graduate education with its 4 faculty members and 22 research assistants. It provides health services as the reference clinic of the region in the diagnosis and treatment of skin and venereal diseases.
