
Thoracic Medicine
Pulmonology is a unit where diseases related to the respiratory system are diagnosed, treated and followed up. In this department, examinations, tests and treatments related to respiratory system diseases such as asthma, COPD, bronchitis, pneumonia, intestitial lung disease and sleep disorders are performed. While the Pulmonology Department serves outpatients with a total of seven separate Asthma/COPD, 24 patients can be examined and treated in the inpatient ward.
History
Our department was first established as the Department of Chest Diseases under the chairmanship of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Orhan Sardas within Ankara University Antalya Faculty of Medicine (1973) and was restructured under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. Demirtaş Kocaçitak in 1982 when our Faculty was transferred to Antalya.The other faculty members, worked nad retired from our department are Prof. Dr. Türkan Tatlıcıoğlu and Prof. Dr.Mustafa Artvinli.
Facility & Services
Our laboratory serves in the Chest Diseases Outpatient Clinic on the ground floor of Block H of our Hospital. Pulmonary function tests are performed with a device called spirometer.
