History
The Department of Neurology at the Faculty of Medicine, Akdeniz University, was established in 1982, concurrently with the founding of Akdeniz University. The department was founded by Prof. Dr. Korkut Yaltkaya, one of Turkey’s leading neurophysiologists. After being awarded the title of professor in 1979, Prof. Dr. Yaltkaya was appointed to Akdeniz University, where he established the Department of Neurology and served as its head for 22 years.
